First Milestone ✅

乗りかかった船 - a ship that you are already partially in

It's done! We have reached our first milestone! (This project consists of 5 milestones where we have to show off our progress to our tutors and professors, thrice in front of the whole class, actually!)

The response to our game pitch has been overwhelmingly positive! And we're glad they liked it :) Seriously, it would have been devastating if it had bombed, as we did put a lot of time into the preparation of the actual presentation (or, how we prefer to say 'Keynote' ;-) )
During less around 10 minutes, the four of us have presented our game concept, as well as the development roadmap, we have concocted. The presentation was held entirely in English at our request, which we are very grateful for.

By the way, the game's title has changed from SumoBalls to Balls 2 The Wall!, after a 4:0 vote during one of our regular Monday meetings ^^

our "Jersey boi" Tim

So, this is our plan for the near future that I've been talking about:

  • Oliver and Leo are going to port the current 2D demo into a concrete 3D game using the OpenGL framework, which is already contained in the LWJGL  (Lightweight Java Game Library) version, we are using.
  • After that we together are going to work on a Client and Server backbone.
    • Concretely, Oliver and Leo are going to work on a Protocol and consequently a Server,
    • while Tim and Nour are simultaneously going to work on a Client.

This is going to be a timely endeavour, which is why once we have everything roughly planned out and everyone's on the same page, we will use our meeting time not to make any decisions about the game anymore, but to code away (together in tandem) at the large monstrosity. As the legends have predicted, we have to find the monster in its cave and slay it! We'll keep ya updated ;)

This is the end, beautiful friend ...

What's going on besides coding?

I think I finally see the finish line.
