虎穴に入らずんば虎子を得ず - "Nothing ventured, nothing gained"

by Nour S.

Our Milestone 2 presentation didn't end up the way we honestly thought haha. The chat was faulty, because of that the 27th of March right after our Milestone 2 presentation we agreed on doing GUI research and increase our knowledge in that field. But most importantly fix the problems that the chat had (like sending and receiving the pings more consistently). After that, we wrote a more elaborated QA plan.

By the 3rd of April we determined a more specific measures for our QA
and found LWJGUI a compatible library with the LWJGL 3 that we are going to use to create our GUI. (OpenGL does create windows too, but for general GUIs, OpenGL is just too cumbersome).
We are also going to have to fix some of the chat problems (like the pinging) by reducing the number of sockets between the server and the client into 1 and updating the protocol. If all of this works, we're going to start implementing other chat features, like whispering, the creation of lobbies and broadcasting. If all of that works we'll luckily have enough time to create a game manual and the creation of presentation for Milestone 2

After a bit over a week we basically had a functioning chat GUI and started working on utilising Gradle to create a build system.  We then packaged our chat into a jar file and tested it to check if everything works fine and realised that there was a problem with the output stream coming from the server, which has to be fixed ASAP. We now added as a priority: a realistic collision for the collision of the balls and an animation for the water.

On the 10th of April we will meet again to finalise the presentation, the game manual and hopefully fix the Server output stream problem.

This is the end, beautiful friend ...

What's going on besides coding?

I think I finally see the finish line.
